Clinical ecotherapy training retreats

After offering ecotherapy to clients for over 10 years and gaining over 100 hours of ecotherapy training, I started teaching clinical ecotherapy to therapists five years ago. I have now trained over 140 therapists throughout Texas and the eastern U.S. I usually offer my clinical ecotherapy training retreats once or twice a year. As a mom, it is important to me to offer ecotherapy training retreats which are affordable, do not require significant travel expense or time away from home, and are practical, allowing participants to have the knowledge and tools to begin offering ecotherapy to their clients right away.

Other people who work in healing and helping professions, such as environmental educators, occupational or physical therapists, ministers and clergy, and medical professionals, are also welcome to attend. Although the training material is designed for mental health professionals, most of the knowledge and techniques are broad enough to be useful to anyone who wishes to integrate nature-based approaches into their work.

Occasionally, I offer advanced clinical ecotherapy training retreats suitable for mental health therapists and counseling students and interns.

At the training retreats, participants can expect to:

  • Receive a variety of practical ecotherapy techniques to help you begin offering ecotherapy to clients

  • Have rich opportunities to practice ecotherapy approaches and techniques

  • Learn and discuss how to add ecotherapy to your work ethically

  • Enjoy opportunities for networking and connecting with like-minded therapists

  • Enjoy restorative and relaxing time in nature for personal and professional nourishment

  • Set yourself and your practice apart

  • Become a part of an innovative, creative field which is thriving in other states and countries

  • Learn an approach which lets you enjoy working outside!

What a few training participants have said:

“Thank you again for a phenomenal training!” – R., Counseling Graduate Student

“I loved Amy’s talk.  She gave me so many ideas to help clients. Her talk even helped me to see the benefit of me not just going on hikes occasionally on weekends but also building in small moments of ecotherapy or myself daily as part of good self-care.” – J., Clinical Psychologist

“(Ecotherapy) feels like I am giving myself the gift of connection with nature in a meaningful and intentional way for the first time. And coming to your training was one of the first ways I did that. Thank you for being so bold with your passion – it encourages me to do the  same!” – A., LPC

"I've done this for 16 years and never seen all ‘Excellents’!" – D., CEU program coordinator

“Thank you for such wonderfully engaging, inspiring, and informational training!” – S., LMSW

“…I have been expanding and deepening my connection with nature in some really meaningful ways. I have had a meditation practice for a long time, but I recently moved it outside and have started doing a walking meditation where I notice not just the experience of walking but also take in the sensory experiences of nature. It has really transformed my meditation practice. It feels like I am giving myself the gift of connection with nature in a meaningful and intentional way for the first time. And coming to your training was one of the first ways I did that. Thank you for being so bold with your passion - it encourages me to do the same!” – A., LPC
